About the Role
As a Trust Tax Manager, you'll oversee a diverse portfolio of trust cases and high-net-worth clients, providing expert tax advice and compliance services. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with trustees, beneficiaries, and other professional advisors while developing your leadership and technical skills.
Trust Tax Manager Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of trust cases and high-net-worth individuals
- Preparing tax advice reports on Inheritance Tax (IHT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), and income planning
- Liaising with trustees, beneficiaries, and other intermediaries to deliver a first-class service
- Providing tax compliance services, including self-assessment tax returns and computations
- Reviewing the work of junior staff and contributing to their professional development
- Maintaining and updating the Trust Register and HMRC’s Trust Registration Service
- Identifying and implementing tax planning opportunities for clients, including estate planning strategies
- Collaborating with other departments, particularly financial planning colleagues, to offer a full-service approach
- Maintaining direct client contact and liaising with HMRC, solicitors, and other professional service firms
- Keeping up to date with tax regulations and technical developments through continuous training
Trust Tax Manager Requirements
- ATT or CTA qualified (or equivalent) with strong technical knowledge
- Previous experience in a similar trust tax or personal tax role
- Strong understanding of compliance standards and regulatory requirements
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, particularly during peak tax seasons
- Professional, client-focused approach with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Experience in preparing trust accounts is desirable but not essential
