About The Role
As Senior Management Accountant, you’ll lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, oversee financial controls, and deliver robust analysis to support business performance. You’ll work closely with the Financial Controller, Head of FP&A, and Director of Finance to ensure the integrity of financial reporting while mentoring and supporting junior team members.
This is a hands-on role with excellent exposure to private equity processes, senior stakeholders, and strategic projects, making it ideal for an ambitious accountant looking to step up into a senior, business-facing role.
Senior Management Accountant Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and finalise monthly management accounts to agreed deadlines.
- Lead month-end processes including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Produce variance analysis with insightful commentary against budgets and forecasts.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and compliance with accounting policies.
- Deliver management reports to senior stakeholders, including KPIs, departmental performance, and trend analysis.
- Support forecasting and budgeting cycles with robust financial plans.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Work closely with budget holders to improve financial performance and cost control.
- Support operational teams with clear analysis of cost drivers.
- Maintain and improve financial processes, controls, and reporting accuracy.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax legislation, and company policies.
- Mentor and support junior finance team members, fostering growth and high performance.
- Drive process improvements across reporting and financial operations.
Senior Management Accountant Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Proven management experience with the ability to lead and develop a small team.
- Strong background in management accounts, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent communicator, confident presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines with precision and attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Experience in the healthcare sector, ideally within a private equity–backed environment.
- Knowledge of IFRS/UK GAAP reporting standards.
