Legal Assistant Responsibilities

Support fee earners in managing residential property transactions from start to completion

Handle client correspondence via telephone, email, and in person

Prepare and process legal documentation including contracts, transfers, and mortgage deeds

Conduct property searches and review results

Liaise with estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other solicitors

Maintain accurate case files and update case management systems

Assist with post-completion matters including SDLT returns and registration

Monitor deadlines and chase outstanding information from various parties

Prepare completion statements and bills

Handle client funds in accordance with SRA regulations

Provide administrative support to the wider team as required
Legal Assistant Requirements:

Previous residential conveyancing experience is essential (minimum 2 years)

Strong understanding of the conveyancing process and relevant legislation

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines

Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
