About the Role
As an Assistant Manager in the Agricultural Team, you will work with passionate agricultural clients who help feed the nation, from traditional farms to diverse rural enterprises including cider producers, wedding venues, and artisan food businesses. You'll provide expert accounting and tax compliance services, alongside tax planning advice to support these innovative farming and rural businesses. Assistant Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, preparation and completion of annual farm and rural business accounts and tax computations
- Review personal and company tax computations and regular VAT returns
- Supervise client bookkeeping services and preparation of forecasts and projections
- Undertake detailed analysis of income and expenditure to support decision making, planning and control
- Identify financial, commercial and tax planning opportunities for clients
- Ensure client accounting records are maintained and kept up to date
- Draft correspondence for clients; liaising with HMRC by telephone and email
- Provide varied administrative and business set-up services for clients
- Handle various capital tax issues including inheritance tax and capital gains tax
- Participate in networking at county agricultural shows, farm walks or local markets
- Share knowledge and collaborate with other rural teams across the firm's regional offices
Assistant Manager Requirements
- AAT, ACA/ACCA qualified (or nearing qualification), or qualified by experience
- Relevant experience in a similar accountancy role
- Good technical knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance
- Committed, logical and accurate, with a methodical approach to work
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience in servicing different types of business entities
- Proficiency in using accounts and tax return software
- Able to work independently and demonstrate initiative
- Commitment to delivering excellent client service
